Growing up, I always had pets. There’s actually not a time in my life where I can’t recall having at least a dog and/or a cat. My grandfather was a lover of animals and it’s something that was definitely passed on to my mum and then me. One of the perks of visiting my mum is all the animals she has (she has ducks, geese and a dog) and I definitely get excited when I see pets out and about. Sadly, as an adult renting in Sydney I had to leave behind my life of dogs and cats, as they make finding a rental property incredibly hard. While I adore my scale baby Sammy (my python baby for those who aren’t IG followers), she doesn’t really allow the same level of loved up companionship as a cat or a dog. So I must admit, I was incredibly excited when the new Sherilee dress arrived from Voodoo Vixen and I spotted the amazing atomic cat print it had.

The Sherilee dress is one of Voodoo Vixen’s newest designs. This is my second Voodoo Vixen wiggle dress and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Made of 97% cotton and 3% elastane, it not only has stretch but it’s also breathable, a quality I really like. As with my other Voodoo Vixen wiggle dress, the waist is nicely nipped in to give a great hourglass shape. Two features of this dress I really love are the black kick pleat at the front, I think it is a great visual feature of the dress as well as giving it easier walking movement and the V bust with the collar. For me the collar really balances out the kick pleat and helps to break up the pattern of the dress.
One thing for me that definitely MAKES this dress is the pattern! It features a mint green pattern of patchwork squares that are also filled in with yellow, pink and a darker teal. Spotted inbetween these squares are elegant black cats. I actually adore black cats and if I was to ever own a cat again a black one would definitely be my choice. The cats give this cat such character and quirk, which is something I definitely look for in my more later 50’s dresses.
While it is a bit on the chillier side in Sydney Australia at the moment, this dress with its short sleeves would be amazing for summer/spring wear for my more northern readers. For me, I’ll be keeping her for when the weather warms up. I’m wearing the Sherilee in a size large, which is my normal size for the Voodoo Vixen dresses that have a lot of stretch! The large fits my 44-45 inch hips with no real difficulty, which is great as I can tell the XL would be WAY too big in the bust and shoulders!
I like to play my accessories up to the colour scheme in the dress, as I find it helps make certain colours pop! My black hair scarf and my mint hoops are both from my store Daisy Jean Floral Designs. My pink beads are from Debstar Designs and my adorable new lips brooch is from Glitter Paradise.
The Sherilee dress retails for $75.56USD which equates to around $100.40AUD + postage. These dresses are great quality for price and I can strongly recommend them, especially if you are a quirky print lover!
