Wishlist Wednesday ~ The lingerie edition

Hello all!

So for this week's Wishlist Wednesday, its all about the retro foundation garments!

After purchasing some stockings and my first every longline wirefree bra from the lovely The Nylon Swish recently, I find myself being drawn back to vintage styled foundation garments. Its honestly something I have an on and off relationship with. I guess my changing body recently has made me want to look at pursuing it again as while I've been loving corsetting daily, I'm finding my current corset style with my body/job is highly impractical.

So below are a few items I'm eyeing off around the place that I hope to add to my collection very soon! This winter I'm really hoping to use foundation garments to help keep me warm too, as well as looking fabulous!

What Katie Did

House of Satin

Revival Lingerie

Rago

Rago Lace Body Briefer Firm Shaper with Garters 9051 ~ $60

Rago Upper Body Extra Firm Shaping Long Line Bra 2202 ~ $50

It turned out to be a LONG one but that's all for today! I hope you all enjoyed this weeks Wishlist Wednesday!

Much Love!

Modcloth Monday ~ 1940's flare!

Morning all!

Its time for Modcloth Monday!

So basically, as I've explained recently I'm having a bit of a love affair with 1940's fashion. As winter comes creeping in with the dramatic flare of a comic villain I have been looking into some pants options to help keep me nice and warm this year and swing pants with blouses have been very high on this list!

The first time I'd really ever seen someone wear swing pants was in the previously mentioned documentary Time Warp Wives  there is a young woman featured who has a love for the 1940's. Her entire look really sparked a keen interest in me for this era and swing pants as a result have been high on my list to invest in ever since and I honestly cannot WAIT to purchase my first pair!

 Top 1 ~ We go Pathway Back Top ~ $29.99 / Top 2 ~ The Schooner the Better Top ~ $49.99 / Top 3 ~ Botanical Collective Top ~ $44.99

Working in an office that is quite grey, I enjoy wearing a lot of colour to work. It generally brightens the place and helps to brighten the mood I find. I'm loving these three blouses from Modcloth to pair with plain swing pants! The beauty is that all 3 could mix and match with the pants I like as well as keeping professional in cut with bright playful colours!

These pants all look so comfortable and versatile! I honestly cannot WAIT to get my first pair of swing pants and I look forward to sharing with you all where I decided to get them from in a review!

Much love,

A beginners guide to Pinup Makeup ~ the basics

Hello all!

I'm finally back to regular blogging here and I'm so excited to be bringing you new blog posts as well as hopefully launching my YouTube channel in the very near future!

But for today, I thought I'd bring you just a little blog post on how to incorporate vintage style make up into your make up routine, especially for beginners to start getting the basics on how to look like the fabulous Dita, who is a prime example of classic vintage beauty styling. There are a few elements of stereotypical pin up/vintage style make up that can be used alongside a modern look or are great starting points. You can start with one or try all together, it really depends on you! I want to do posts about specific eras at a later date, so this one is purely a general makeup guide.

Matte Foundation:

The pinup look is all about a matte finish, especially with foundation! This is achieved through using a liquid foundation set with a powder. The powder will not only set the foundation, but prevent shine.

Brows:

There has been a very big shift in the past 2 years in the online pin up scene towards strong defined brows that have an arch. The arch is very important as its what gives the vintage shape. This can be achieved with drawing the shape with an eyebrow pencil or pot, if your brows don't naturally have this shape.

Winged Liner & lashes:

Winged eye liner is the go to for a vintage look! Both black and brown can be used and it can be liquid or pencil. Here is a mini tutorial on how to do winged liner (this is personally how I do it to!). Winged eye liner is all about practice. Be patient and keep trying! Mascara was worn with none on the bottom lid (top only, same with liner) and focus on the outer lashes of the eye.

Nude Lids:

A nude coloured lid with a darkened crease is a popular pinup shadow look, shown here in this image from Pinterest (click for link). This look is easy to achieve with an eyeshadow palette. Check this YouTube Tutorial for a 'how to' on how to achieve this look!

Red Lips:

Red lips are characteristic of vintage styling as well as an overdrawn top lip, as well as lips being matte. The best way to achieve this is the line the lips first, then apply lipstick with a brush before blotting with a tissue! Reds can range from oranges to deep reds.

I hope you've all found this post informative and helpful! Hoping to bring more of these post styles in the near future! If there is a specific type of post you'd like to see, email me at askcurvecreation@gmail.com

Thanks

I'm Back!

Did you all miss me? I know I've been awfully quiet on the blogging front, but with good reason. I was having issues with the rental I was living in and just relocated the week before my birthday (yay!) as well as stress which bought on weight gain linked to those issues. Basically, 10kg later after ongoing landlord and building integrity problems and I am FREE and so incredible stoked about that fact! I am now living in a brand new building complex that has given me a new lease on life, a heavier wallet after I pay my expenses and the ability to get back to my previous banging body!

This new lease will basically allow me to start building my wardrobe/look again, which will mean I will actually be able to do reviews again and not just constant wishlist posts lol! It also means less travel, which means more time to finally get my youtube channel up and running with all those tutorials people keep requesting and more blogging time here!

I'm taking this week to finish settling into my new routine, but you can expect to see posts happening here again as of Monday at the latest!

Cannot wait to grow this little blog space again!
