Loving Lina ~ A Voodoo Vixen Review

Morning all!

Its review time! Today I'm reviewing the amazing Lina Dress from Voodoo Vixen!
Now days I tend to look for clothes that I can easily make fit into both my work and my personal life. Working full time in an office now days means that my purchases of plunging neck lines and halterneck tops have really faltered in the past 6 months, as they simply aren’t appropriate to my line of work anymore. Sure I still buy them, but nowhere near as regularly as I once did. This gorgeous dress jumped out at me because I felt the simple two tone colour-ways made it a versatile little number! Easy to accessorize because of its block colours and create multiple looks. This pretty has become a much loved piece in my corporate wardrobe!

In this blog post I'll be talking about the fit, quality, my thoughts on this dress and styling!

First Impressions

My first impressions of this dress was the I loved the colour! Growing up, I was such a SUCKER for blue.I wore pretty much exclusively blue from around 12-14 and I’ve been trying to incorporate it back into my wardrobe again. The lighter accents throughout the dress also stood out to me as really pretty touches and the bust line/capped sleeves meant it would be an appropriate work number for me.

The Fit

I found the fit of this dress to be spot on and true to size. I got the medium, which is my most common size in pinup repro clothes and it fit perfectly. I can comfortably wear it with or without my foundation garments but much prefer it with, as it really enhances the cut of the dress. The bustline of the dress I found to be comfortable, it sat high enough I wasn’t showing off my bust, which I feel is more work appropriate. The colour also gave it a more formal feel, lending it for a night out as well as a day at work. The capped sleeves also meant I was able to wear a dress with sleeves without having to worry about it being too tight/cutting in. The length was perfect for wearing with a crinoline for some extra volume as well as without.

Quality

I cannot fault the quality of this dress. The button detailing down the front is perfect, there were no imperfections in the sewing and there have been no issues with the zip. Overall, I have been very impressed with the quality from Voodoo Vixen! And the cuts of their designs are adorable!

Styling

This dress is a styling dream! Being made up of two block neutral colours, it means you can accessorise it in a lot of different colours! I’ve so far worn mine with red, white and pink. I’d love to try it with some other colours too! It can also be worn with patterns as well! For this shoot I opted for the white, as I love how crisp it looks against the dark! My hair flowers are from Daisy Jean’s Signature Rose collection! My brooch is from DeerArrow and my beads are from Debstar Designs! My shoes are the Pin Up Couture cutie heels in pink. My belt can be found on ebay.

If you are after a dress that'll work with most occasions, this one is a goer! I've fallen in love with this dress, its versatility, its functionality and its overall look.

Thats it for me today! If you have any other questions or comments feel free to leave a comment!

I hope you've enjoyed this review. The lovely photos were taken by Russell J Thomas.

Til tomorrow!

Hola Chica Kitty Top in Mango Review & ootd - Sunday 18th January 2015

Hello all!

I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday!

So a big part of why I wanted this blog was to review the items I purchase and love for you so I figured I'd better get on that!

I was fortunate enough recently to win a top as a prize in an instagram give away from the Australian brand Hola Chica Clothing and I am SO excited to review that gorgeous item for you all today!!

Top: Kitty Top in Mango by Hola Chica Clothing
Belt: Ebay
Skirt: Kinky box pleats skirt in leopard by Pin Up Girl Clothing (No longer made)

The first thing I noticed about this top when I got it home to have a look at it was the incredible structure! The zip is set starting part way up the back, which leaves you with a nice flat front. The straps are wide enough to offer support and not cut into your shoulders which is always wonderful!

I also found that it gave me great shape and support in the bust which is always a great advantage to any top! I wore this top on one of Sydney's super hot days recently and found it comfortable in the sweltering hot! It wasn't too constricting or hold in too much body heat which was great. The V shape on the back allowed for a slight breeze on my shoulders which was nice at the time. I've also loved experimenting with a color thats outside my normal comfort zone!

The kitty top in mango is currently on sale and you can purchase yours here!

Weekly outfit overview post coming up later!

Outfit of the day - Thursday 15th January 2015

Hello all!

It was another hot one today and with more business meetings I was SATURATED in sweat by the time I got home so I apologise for having less photos than normal in today's post!

Brooch: Erstwilder

So another business meeting called for another business style dress. Black again was my colour of choice and for a change I paired it with my black and white heels. This dress was great for such a hot day for a number of reasons!

Firstly is the fact its got short sleeves as well as an open chest which allows for some breeze to hit your skin. It has pockets! and I love the break in the black with the polka dot design. I paired it with my blue Lyre Bird Erstwilder brooch for a splash of colour.

I have a few posts coming your way so keep your eyes peeled! Catching up on everything, I think next week I'm going to do just a weekly overview of outfits and start posting my reviews on items here!

More to come!

Wishlist Wednesday - Tiki lover!

So I'm sorry this is a two days late! I've been a busy bee this week!

So my wishlist for this week is this GORGEOUS outfit all from Pin Up Girl Clothing! As those close to me know I am a HUGE fan of the tiki look. I was devastated that their tiki capsule released during my 6 month clothing buy ban! But once I have the funds this outfit will be mine!

I mean seriously....that dress! Its perfect! I adore greens, blues and turquoise/aqua and this dress had me swooning! I mean, its perfect! And being summer and SO hot what better way to stay cool and look fabulous! The heels are amazing and would go with 99% of my wardrobe and I totally do need another wicker bag (I already have 2) and Mermaid earrings are always a win!

Looking forward to next week's list! Especially now I'm looking more online these days :)

Outfit of the day - Friday 9th January 2015

Good morning all!

Another work styled outfit today as I had another meeting this morning so its another office chic look today!

Belt: Hell Bunny

So considering I've worn primarily black for work this week I thought I'd add a splash of colour to the mix! I scored this gorgeous Tatyana's Boutique dress on eBay in 2013 and its been a favorite since then! Its super comfy (though the fabric was a little too hot for the Sydney scorcher we are experiencing today) and highlights curves beautifully. I often don't wear accessories with this dress as I find the red pocket detail, pattern and bold collar is ample, though I did break it up today with a red belt to match my hair, shoes and the pocket.

The way this dress is cut is honestly divine! It just makes you look incredible and the fabric doesn't restrict your movement at all. Its comfortable for all day wear which is great as well as being butt tastic!

My shoes are my staple red heels by Pin Up Couture. I do have unevenly sized feet so needed to size up and put an insert in one but I find these to be relatively comfortable thanks to the strap across the front. Your feet do sweat a bit on hot days so I primarily wear these babies in the cooler months but today they just went perfectly!

Kept hair pulled back and professional today (as well as keeping it off my neck in the hot!). Very light foundation today due to the weather as well. Bold red colours in my outfit called for bold red lips so it was another Glampire Simply Irresistable from the Make Up Wardrobe kind of day again! Brow pot also by Glampire. Really need to invest in more of these!

More posts coming today so keep your eyes peeled!

Outfit of the Day post - Thursday 8th January 2015

Good afternoon all!

Sorry I'm a bit late today, I've been a very busy little bee! More work related stuff today so another corporate look! Please ignore by derp faces today, my lip is still sore from my dental visit yesterday!

Brooch: Erstwilder

So black is certainly proving to be my power colour this week! I wore this amazing black birdie dress which is one of more office-esque style favorites. I love the collar detailing and the length is great for looking professional! This short sleeve version is also a summer favorite as it lets you breath, especially being primarily cotton as well. The swing style gives a great breeze too!

As this dress is block black I teamed it with some colourful accessories to help brighten it up. My belt is off my lilac birdie dress and contrasted beautifully against the black, really highlighting my waist. I went with my green frog Erstwilder brooch today to compliment the green in the belt. Black shoes were my choice as they were still out from Tuesday's meeting.

This dress gives great curves when cinched with a belt and shows just the right amount of cleavage. The collar detail really makes this dress in my opinion and makes wearing any kind of brooch a dream!

Simple hair and make up today with my pale pink lip being a Rimmel London colour 012 Guest List. This is a great soft pink for if you want something neutral but still with some shimmer!

I'm a day late with everything it seems this week but will be posting up my Wishlist Wednesday post later this afternoon!

That's it for now!

Outfit of the day - Tuesday 6th January 2015

Morning all!

I was up MUCH earlier than usual today as I was off to an appointment for work, which mean professional pinup glamour was on the cards for today's look!

Brooch: Erstwilder

So today's look was simple, professional and elegant. I love the Havana nights dress for a variety of reasons (and intend to add other colours in this dress to my collection!) The fit is honestly flawless. Its such a great cut and is easily interchangable from office chic to night time glamour with the right accessories! Plus ladies, it has absolutely MASSIVE pockets! What more could a girl want in a dress?! It nips beautifully at the waist to give that timeless hourglass figure as well as having wide enough straps to be supportive across the bust.

I love the black because its so EASILY accessories for a whole new look. Wear it whatever colours tickle your fancy to brighten it up whether that be a petticoat, belt, brooch, hair flowers, shoes, handbag, whatever! It all just works. Definitely one of my favorites purely for its versatility!

The only accessory I wore today was my new Erstwilder brooch! I ordered it in December and completely forgot which is no wonder as the ebay seller was on holiday and I didn't notice. It was a nice surprise when she arrived in the post yesterday!! One of their halloween brooches from last year, she'll be perfect for when I want a darker vibe to my outfits! I thought she gave the perfect throw of colour today and it was great to wear her out.

I kept my make up super simple and very neutral today. Wore my Clinique High Impact Lipstick in colour 17 Rosette again today as its a softer lip colour. Victory rolls and a gibson hair roll at the back to keep it neat, tidy and to the point. Very happy with how today went.

Keep any eye out for my first Modcloth Monday post coming later today as I completely forgot yesterday!

Til later!
