A little black dress. Something so very timeless, classic and sexy about it, yet its something that up until recently has been incredibly under-represented in my wardrobe. In reality, I actually tend to steer clear of black. I find it to be a bit too bland for my liking and I prefer brighter happier colours. However, when seeing the Patti dress in black from Karina Dresses, I knew I had to give it a try!

Flowers ~ Red Rose Double from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Beads ~ Vintage
Brooch ~ Marilyn Brooch from Deer Arrow
Dress ~ Patti Dress in Black Pointe from Karina Dresses
Belt ~ Off another dress
Shoes ~ Red Lorraine Heels by B.A.I.T Footwear from Royal Vintage Shoes
The Patti dress is a straight cut dress made of black pointe. As with all Karina Dresses, this beauty is crease free with no need to iron. Simply hand to dry after a wash! Karina Dresses also don't have zips, you simply pull them on which is also a feature I adore as I find sometimes zips can bunch and wrinkle the fabric around them. This dress also features pockets, which is amazing for a wiggle style because honestly, who doesn't love pockets in anything!

The Patti dress also features a square neckline with short sleeves. I likes this shape as I found it could lend itself to both casual and formal looks, while being practical for work. The just above the knee length is also a great versatile length for functionality and practicality.

I got this dress in a M/L, to accommodate my rather fuller lower half which is my normal size for my Karina dresses! Surprisingly, I didn't find the shoulders too loose which is a huge win as they normally are. This dress is comfortable to wear and flattering with or without foundations.

I absolutely LOVE the styling options for this dress as well! For this shoot I decided to go with red and white, as I feel they contrast SO well against the black. By belting with such a bright colour it really does highlight the smaller waist. I also love how my Marilyn Brooch from Deer Arrow absolutely pops out from the black background of this dress. My red Daisy Jean Floral Designs Signature Rose Doubles also help bring this look into more of a formal feel.

This dress retails for $108USD which is around $142AUD. I can attest that the price tag is totally worth it! This is my third Karina Dresses dress and I absolutely love them! They are so incredibly comfortable, versatile and practical! And they do ship worldwide!

I hope you've all enjoyed this review! As always, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have if you pop them in the notes!

Til next time darlings!

Judy dress

2016 is quickly shaping up to be the year of the 1940s for me. After a few years of fluffing around the 1950’s, more and more 1940s pieces have recently been sneaking into my wardrobe. The Judy dress is one 1940s style dress from Hell Bunny I’ve been eyeing off for quite some time…however only being able to find it overseas (with ridiculous exchange rates/postage costs attached) really meant it stayed on my wishlist, always feeling slightly unobtainable. Then one night I was browsing the Natasha Marie Clothing website and saw she had it in stock at a steal price so instantly snapped it up to add to my wardrobe.

Flowers ~ Daphne's Daffodils from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Beads ~ White bead necklace from Debstar Designs
Brooch ~ Spellbound Rose Brooch from Deer Arrow
Dress ~ Judy dress in Tobacco by Hell Bunny from Natasha Marie Clothing
Shoes ~ Betty heels in brown from Royal Vintage Shoes
I can honestly say, this dress blew me away on all levels. The cut, the fit, the comfort, the look. Its just a truly incredible dress. The dress features sleeves that go to the elbow that feature a cuff and 3 button detailing as well as pleating/ruffling along the bust along with buttons under the V neck. It also features a pleated skirt, which is great for wear without a petticoat for an authentic 1940's look.

The first time I wore this dress I got so many compliments from people to and from work. Despite being repro it does have quite an authentic 1940s look. I bought the medium, which is my normal size for Hell Bunny swing styles. I was a little worries about the arms being to tight when I first got it home but found that they had a surprising amount of stretch which was awesome. Made of polyester its incredibly comfortable and can give a little. I have worn this dress with and without shapewear and both are super flattering thanks to this amazing cut.

I love this dress in the tobacco colour. For some reason, for me it just gives it a more authentic look. Since going blonde I've found my interest in wanting to dress in a more authentic look, as it just feels more doable with blonde hair as oppose to fire engine red. Plus, I also feel like the block colour allows for a broader range when it comes to accessorising. For this shoot I decided to brighten it up with a yellow daffodil hair flower, white beads for a classic look and a pretty brooch.

I truly love this brooch from Deer Arrow. The spellbound rose brooch is a layered resin brooch that gives it a 3D effect. Reminiscent of Disney's Beauty and the Beast, this brooch is such a gorgeous finishing touch to any outfit. I love how the pink pops against the brown on this dress. They work so beautifully together.

The price of this dress is an absolute steal! I snapped mine up from Natasha Marie for $34.95AUD + postage. Natasha had it in the post to me the next day and I was so excited when it arrived. I can highly recommend Natasha Marie for Australian pinup gals!

I hope you've all enjoyed this blog post and I'm loving being back!

More reviews coming this week and next so keep your eyes peeled! As always, happy to answer any questions left in the comments!

Shirt Dress Glamour! ~ The Zelda Dress from Dolly and Dotty

There's something about retro style shirt dresses that have always fascinated me. I guess its because I kind of see them as the 1950s casual wear for women. I lost count of how many times I swooned over Betty Draper in a shirt dress. And while I do own some styles that pay homage to the shirt dress, I haven't actually owned a button up the front shirt dress before. So when I was contacted by Dolly and Dotty, a new UK based retro brand to collaborate, I knew that the Zelda dress was one I needed to have.

Flowers ~ Peach Rose Double from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Brooch ~ Mint Radio Brooch from Deer Arrow
Dress ~ Zelda Dress in brown from Dolly and Dotty
Shoes ~ Betty Shoes in brown from Royal Vintage Shoes
I opted for the Zelda dress in brown, purely because I have a LOT of bright colours and have been wanting to play around with some more neutral colours of late to change up my look. This dress also comes with two options of a brown tie belt or a traditional white belt. For the shoot I went for the tie belt as I thought it gave the dress a nice look and was something a little different.

So how did I find this dress darlings? Overall I'm pretty happy with it. Its comfortable to wear, the invisible side zip behaved well being done up, the light elastic in the sleeve ends isn't enough to make it uncomfortable but fills the function on keeping the sleeves in place. The buttons are sturdy and don't pop (which I was SUPER stoked about!) and overall it is a comfortable dress to wear.

I liked the simplicity of the polka dot pattern. It was fun to style and the mix and match belts mean the dress can have a completely different feel without having to buy any extra pieces. The fabric felt good against my skin and after sitting all day had minimal creasing in it, which is also a good thing! the only thing that didn't work for me, was the length.

Being a girl with a bit more behind than some, I found the dress as the back was considerably lifted by my butt. This was due to the dress being more of an A-line cut of skirt than a swing. The first day I wore this dress, I did so with stockings and suspenders and spent the whole day pulling the dress down at the back as it crept up. This is a dress I'll be wearing more on my errand days when I tend to wear flats and no stockings or when I visit family, purely for the length factor. I do have a hip of around the 44 inch mark, so if you aren't as curvy in the lower half this isn't an issue you'll really encounter.

I opted to wear this cute little Deer Arrow Brooch I bought from Portobello Princess. I loved the mint against the green and thought that is really popped nicely, while definitely keeping a retro feel.

This pretty dress comes in an array of different colours and is currently listed as $24.99US (Thats $36.20AUD for the ladies reading at home) which is an absolute steal! Postage is $30.99AUD ($21.40USD)  however so its definitely worth your while to get two dresses and make the most of it!

I hope you've enjoyed reading this review! I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have if you leave them in the comments!

Til later darlings!

Wishlist Wednesday~ Brooch Addict edition

Hello all!

Its Wednesday which means its WISHLIST time!

It’s no secret that I’m a bit of a brooch junkie! I LOVE brooches! And I certainly have a vast collection that continues to grow of brands I love! Plus, I’m always on the lookout for new brooch brands I may like!

I think they are such a great way to mix up an outfit with minimal effort and cost. A different brooch on an outfit can throw a completely different look and I truly love that about them as an accessory! Also, as someone with sensitive ears, brooches are a bit of a no brainer as it reduces the risk of my ears getting sore and bleeding, which can happen with certain types of earrings!

So I thought I’d compile a little list of my current drooled over brooches that I cannot wait to add to my collection!

Erstwilder

This is currently my most drooled over brooch and I intend to get him this week! He's SO gorgeous!

Ever since my Lucky duck (sadly taken be foxes earlier in the year) I've been eyeing off Donovan as a tribute to the duck that thought he was a person.

The original Fleur colorway was my first ever Erstwilder but sadly I lost her. Seeing her be re-released! I need to get her in my collection again!

I loved the entire By The Sea collection from Erstwilder and already have a few pieces from it, but I really want this little fishy too!

Creep Heart

Currently my favorite Ella piece that I do not owne! God I need it! Its SO pretty!

I love the prettiness of this little brooch. She's so pretty!

I love the concept of this brooch and how Ella does her layering!

Basically I just think this little guy looks incredibly cute!

Deer Arrow

I've been a lover of Deer Arrow for quite some time now! Here are my current wishlist items!

Luxulite

As of yet, I don't own any Luxulite pieces, but here are a few I've been eyeing off!

Baby Blue berries Brooch ~ $30 from Coconette Oz

Hungry Designs

I always loved the imagery of Beauty and the Beast and this brooch is stunning!

I have the unicorn head and ever since getting it I've been drooling over the dinosaur versions!

Same reason as above...that and I rewatched Jurassic Park 2 the other day!

Glitter Paradise

I've come to love glitter paradise recently and have one of their brooches so far! Here are a few others I want to add to my collection!

Girdle Brooch Set ~ $27 from Vintage Pip

I hope you've enjoyed this wishlist Wednesday!

Looking forward to bringing you another review tomorrow!

With love!
