The ultimate 1940's cream heel ~ Lacey T strap heels from Royal Vintage Shoes

2016 for me so far is shaping up to be the year I truly delve into the 1940s. An era that I am increasingly interested in for its class, versatility, work appropriate nature and just general look. I’m a sucker for light coloured heels, despite wearing a lot of darker colour shoes now days. The Lacey heels, made by B.A.I.T footwear and stocked by the incredible Royal Vintage Shoes instantly excited me with their slight platform and t bar design! I knew they'd be perfect to wear with a lot of my 1940s outfits as well as lending itself to some of my 1950s looks too.

I was so excited when the Lacey T Strap heel shoes arrived from Royal Vintage Shoes! They are so pretty in person! Very sturdy, they felt like they were a good quality and the heel wasn’t too high. I got the 7.5 which is my usual B.A.I.T footwear size and the 8's are just too long for my feet.

So lets start with the big one: breaking in! These were actually a killer to break in and the pair that made me decide to start using the blowdry method to help the process along (would you like to see a post on this method??)  which definitely made a difference. While there were no spots that caused blisters, the side of the front did take a little while to give out and were initially very tight, despite fitting perfectly everywhere else. However, once this happened they became incredibly comfortable and I've been able to wear them twice for a full day now without needing to change my shoes.

One of the features I love about this shoe is the ankle strap. I find shoes in general that feature an ankle strap are more comfortable for longer wear than shoes without. The small platform also makes these shoes more comfortable with the heel size, as it makes walking a lot easier to walk in. These shoes would be a great ‘starter’ heel for ladies who aren’t used to wearing heels but want to start.

The buckle on the strap is sturdy and well made. It may be a bit stiff on the first one or two wears but it does loosen over time. The thicker size of these heels really for me is such a winner, as I find thinner heels cause me quite a bit of arch discomfort!

With being a neutral shade of show, these heels are incredibly versatile. Even with my 1940s clothing, I do still wear a lot of lighter colours and pastels, so I find this shoe is a perfect match for these styles of outfits. It can also work well for styles where I want to keep the dress as a statement and have a muted shoe colour, which I did recently with a gorgeous navy velvet dress!

The front detailing on these shoes is also a gorgeous statement within itself. The lacey shoes are available from Royal Vintage Shoes for $75USD ($99.61AUD) which is very reasonable for such a great pair of shoes as well as fast turnaround times and incredible customer service. She does international shipping that has tracking as standard and reasonably priced as well.

I've also popped below two other examples of how I've worn these gorgeous shoes!

I hope you've enjoyed this blog post! I have another lovely shoe post coming for you all next week as I'm still breaking them in!

As always, happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments!

Til tomorrow darlings!
