Mermaid Madness with Mischief Made Me

Its no secret I'm a mermaid lover. I already have two mermaid dresses in my wardrobe which I adore so when I saw that Mischief Made had mermaid shirts, I knew I needed to have one in my life! I opted for the peach colour to add a bit of softness to my wardrobe. I was incredibly excited to receive it as I knew it would go perfectly for casual days with my Freddies of Pinewood Lana Jeans.

Scarf ~ Repro nylon scarf in teal from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Earrings & Brooch ~ Pink and gold scallop shell set from Mermaid Missi
Top ~ Bubble Babies top in Peach from Mischief Made Me
Jeans ~ Black Lana Pedal Pusher Jeans from Freddies of Pinewood (Read review here)
Shoes ~ Kiki Sandals in green from Royal Vintage Shoes (review coming soon)
Mischief made is a brand based in California USA. Their designs range from cute like my shirt to more sassy. I opted for something more on the sweet side this time around, but after having now received mine I'll definitely be back. I bought the large though for future reference could size down to a medium. The fabric is not as thick as my atomic swag shirt but still not so thin I need to wear a top under it. Its comfortable, it breathes well and it hasn't been affected by its first trip in a washing machine.

I paid $31.00AUD for my Bubble Babies top and postage was only $6.50AUD, which was very cheap! With such reasonable pricing I can see why they've become so popular among the retro girls I follow online. I wore minimal accessories with this outfit. I opted for my pearl pink and gold scallop shell brooch and earring set from Mermaid Missi. I made one for the store and loved it so much I made a set for myself. And they go perfectly with the peach tones of this top.

I hope you've all enjoyed this blog post darlings! I have my review of these amazing shoes coming later this week as well!

Til next time!

Betty Take Two ~ Black Betty Sandals from Royal Vintage Shoes

So 2016 for me has quickly started out as the year of awesome shoes. I never realised how much shoes could lift an outfit til I became a brand ambassador for Royal Vintage Shoes. Now I tend to plan a lot of my outfits around what shoes I want to wear and what shoes will give the best finish. When I saw that Royal Vintage Shoes had the Black Betty Sandals back in stock in my size, I knew I needed them! These are my second pair of Betty Sandals, my first being in brown (read my review here) and after wearing them the most out of my collection I decided it was time to add black into my wardrobe in this style. So what was it that made me decide I needed these shoes in another colour? Simply, they are amazing.

If I want comfort, my Brown Betty's are my go to. But sadly, brown doesn't go with everything (though I do try and make it so!) so it was time to add black into the mix. Betty Sandals are incredibly comfortable. I have literally no pain or foot aching by the time I take them off after a 10 hour day. I walk to and from the train station and then to and from work. For comfort and all day where, I cannot fault these amazing shoes.

I can also attest to their quality! I wear my brown pair every second day and after 6 months they are still in incredible condition. I will at some point need to get the elastic replaced at the buckle on one of the shoes, but that aside they have held up incredibly well for a pair of shoes. This testament to their quality is another reason I decided to get this heel in another colour.

Also, as I move towards adding more 1940s into my wardrobe, these shoes will be a much loved addition. I'm already planning my next outfit with them and I cannot wait to have a more day wear appropriate black heel to wear with my 1940s style.

I got my order in less than a week, which is incredibly fast. As always, the service and speed from Royal Vintage Shoes was incredible! I'm so happy with these amazing shoes and you can expect to see them in my outfits in the near future! I bought my usual 7.5 and they fit perfectly. As per my last pair, the break in will be minimal with no blisters and pain.

I hope you've all enjoyed this blog post and I really look forward to being able to wear these shoes as much as my brown pair!

Casual 40's Girl Glamour ~ Lana Pedal Pushers in Black Denim from Freddies of Pinewood

Hello darlings!

I've been talking a lot recently (I mean, since I started this blog space!) about my growing desire for more 1940's items in my wardrobe. While the 1940's was definitely an era of polished feminine glamour, I have also been on the hunt for styles that are more practical. With my weekends normally spend running around for my business or seeing family, dresses aren't always practical. So when I saw the Lana Pedal Pushers by Freddies of Pinewood, I knew I couldn't go past them.

Scarf ~ Teal Repro Nylon Scarf
Sunglasses ~ JayJays (2 years ago)
Top ~ Bikini Beach Bash top by Atomic Swag from Gwynnies
Belt ~ Kmart
Jeans ~ Lana Pedal Pushers in Black by Freddies of Pinewood
Shoes ~ Pink Flats from Payless

This is my second pair of Freddies. I haven't reviewed my first as they currently incredibly snug on my butt, but as I'm about to embark on a 12 week workout plan I'm not too worried. I scored these Freddies Jeans new with tags on Ebay, however they are also on sale at the moment via the Freddies of Pinewood website. The Lana Pedal Pushers are incredibly comfortable. While my waist measurement atm is hovering around a 31 inch, I opted to go up to the 34' waist, as I found the 30's which are the size of my other pair don't have quite enough butt room. For reference I am currenlty sitting around a 44 inch hip. I did find them a bit stiff in the first wear but since wearing them a few times since, the denim has relaxed enough that movement is comfortable. While the waist is a litte big, they are a comfortable fit everywhere else.

Something else I'd like to note about these jeans is the Durability. On my second day of wearing them I tripped over onto concrete pretty bad, thanks to misjudging the height of the gutter. While me knees got quite bruised, these jeans definitely saved my knees from being really cut up, they also have no marks from my trip at all. Not even a scuff in the denim. I can tell I'm going to get a lot of wear out of these pants.

I've been having such a ball pairing these jeans with different tops. Its a great outfit for casual days when I'm off running around for my business. And it fits my curves comfortably which for me is important. I also feel that even if I lost weight, these would still be wearable, thanks to the belt loops. I love teaming these jeans with my Atomic Swag shirt and I honestly cannot wait to get more. Its been so wonderful experimenting more with casual pinup and making my pinup style better suited to my hectic lifestyle.

The Lana jeans are currently on sale for 30 British pounds, which comes in at around $60AUD + postage. For anyone after an authentic cut of retro jean that is both comfortable and durable, I strongly recommend Freddies of Pinewood!

I hope you've enjoyed this blog post darlings. As always, I'm more than happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below!

1940s Earring Glam with Revere Folie

Eclipse Earrings in Blue Marble
Accessories outside of brooches and necklaces are an area I've really been lacking with my pinup style of late and I've really been trying to incorporate other types of jewellery into my styling. While I do make a lot of my own accessories I've been trying to branch out and start building goodies from other talented ladies into my little collection. After seeing Revere Folie online for quite a while, I took the plunge and got myself a pair of their Bryona earrings! I was beautifully surprised with two pairs of their Eclipse earrings as well.

I placed my order and was thrilled to have it delivered in less than a week. Packaged up for safe postage as well as a little hand written note on a thank you card. Its personal touches that I love seeing in small businesses. As I'm still a little intimidated by the larger earring styles, I was happy to have two smaller styles to play with.

Bryona Earrings in Navy
Revere Folie is an Australian small business specialising in art deco and retro styled earrings. Their designs are made of laser cut acrylic, sometimes layered for design sometimes not. They come with stainless steel backing and are both reasonably priced when it comes to postage and product. They are such a versatile product and I've really been having fun styling them in different ways, as seen below:

The Eclipe earrings have been incredibly fun to style. They're small enough that they aren't too over the top for most outfits but the pop of colour from the black base gives them something extra special. I purposely bought the Bryona earrings as I knew they were outside of my comfort zone and wanted to challenge myself in my style and so far I've had a lot of fun with them.

As I delve more into 1940's styling, I've been enjoying styling my new earrings a lot of different ways. They are comfortable to wear which is a big thing for me and they don't disrupt my ability to use the phone at work, which for me is very important.

Eclipse Earrings in Gold speckle Marble
I'm already hungering after some more designs that I've seen posted in her store since my last order! A truly talented lady with an eye for flawless design, I strongly recommend Revere Folie for other ladies hunting for earrings with a difference.

You can find Revere Folie on Etsy  as well as on instagram and she does ship internationally! This certainly won't be my last order from Revere Folie and you can expect to see her designs in my ootd posts in the future!

I paid $20.00AUD for my Bryona earrings. The eclipse studs are $18.00AUD and I paid $5AUD for domestic postage!

As always darlings, I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments below!

Office Chic and Tartan Curves ~ Hell Bunny office separates

Sometimes darlings, I look in my wardrobe and find goodies I'd forgotten I had stashed away, perfectly matching but never reviewed. I felt it was time to shake off the dust and share the love for these forgotten styles! Late last year I bought the Hell Bunny Rosina Blouse in Navy and the Jodie Dublin Tartan Pencil skirt by Hell Bunny from Gwynnies. I bought them for work, but as I explained in a recent post, while trying to get my weight under control I've been shying away from wiggle styles. But I'm trying to push past that atm to reclaim my body confidence so thought I'd share another wiggle style review with you all.

Flowers ~ Jeans double from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Earrings ~ Byrona Earrings in Navy from Revere Folie
Brooch ~ Creep Heart (discontinued)
Blouse ~ Rosina Blouse in Navy by Hell Bunny From Gwynnies
Belt ~ Retro Belt in red by Hell Bunny from Gwynnies
Skirt ~ Jodie Dublin Tartan Skirt by Hell Bunny From Gwynnies
Shoes ~ Betty Sandals in Black by Miss L Fire from Royal Vintage Shoes (Review coming soon)
I honestly need to wear this set more often. I absolutely adore it. I love blues and greens and this set features two of my favorite colours. I bought the blouse in a size small. It does have a lot of stretch and while it is a little tight on the bust, I know that if I lose any weight it will just fit better. As with most wiggle style skirts, I had to buy this in a large to accomodate my hips. It is a little loose in the waist, both with and without shapewear but there is no way a medium would fit my hips. A bigger waist is nothing a belt can't fix and I do adore the flash of red that the retro belt gives with this ensemble.

Its interesting how we perceive our bodies. I know from photos that this time around my shape has barely changed, I've just expanded out to the same proportions at a bigger size. But its something that can still get me down. I'm making it an aim as of this week to wear a wiggle style at least once a week. I know thats doable now the weather has cooled, as it means I can wear my panty girdle again without drying from the heat. And wearing my panty girdle will mean no thigh chaffing, which is a problem I face in wiggle styles. This top and skirt are also incredibly versatile to mix and match with other pieces from the Hell Bunny 'corporate' style range they released last year.

The skirt is a steal at $49AUD and the blouse retails for $52. I adore them both and really need to make it a priority to wear them more. The detailing in the blouse is simply gorgeous and the back frill of the skirt really does give it something a bit extra.

Thats all for today darlings, I hope you enjoyed this post and I have more coming this week.

Til next time!
