Tiki Magic with Pinup Girl Clothing

We all know I love tiki. I think it comes from my love of the beach growing up. While I don’t get there anywhere near as much as I used to (thanks to adult life of work and running a small business) I still love sun, surf and water. I guess for me tiki is almost the pinup equivalent of celebrating things I love. Now I was unlucky enough to miss out on the amazing parrot tiki pants in PUG’s last tiki capsule and when I saw the awesome print of this releases trousers, like HELL I was missing out a second time. I parted ways with some things I hadn’t worn in forever and snapped myself up the HighWaisted Trousers in orange tiki print and the Harley top in Orange

Scarf ~ Baby Blue Nylon Scarf from Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Hoops ~ Hollywood Hoops from Retro Resins
Brooch ~ Large Dew Drops brooch from Dottie Delite
Top ~ Orange Harley top from Pinup Girl Clothing
Pants ~ High Waisted Trousers in Orange Tiki Print from Pinup Girl Clothing
Shoes ~ Wooden Tiki mules by Pinup Couture (bought on ebay)

I was beyond excited when my parcel arrived just 3 days after placing my order. The speed of Fedex boggles my mind sometimes (I’m using to dealing with Australia Post) and the colours in the print were even prettier in person. The orange was definitely a great match, though I was originally a bit hesitant about the orange Harley due to not being sure I could style it with more (seemy how I styled it post here!).  The first thing I noticed, was that despite going off the size chart and getting the Large,  I was going to have the same issue with the Harley top as I had all those moons ago when I tried on a Harley dress: my shoulders are too small. While it fit me well on my waist, it was slightly too big in the bust and the shoulder section actually sat above my shoulders slightly as oppose to sitting on them (I really pulled and pulled it down to get it to sit right for this shoot, but it made it bunch around my waist).

Thankfully, this isn’t too big of an issue, my super padded bra did help with the bust size but I doubt I’ll buy another Harley top outside of this one. Its sad, they are great tops but I’m finding more and more that as a small busted gal with a bigger bottom half, there are some styles that are difficult on my shape. This is one of them. As I have similar issues with peasant tops (my shoulders are very rounded which means peasant tops end up halfway down my arms, making them not appropriate for a job that requires covered shoulders) so I picked a lesser of two evils. At least I don't have to worry about straps or sleeves sliding down on this one!

So body size/fit issues aside, this top is beautifully made. The straps are thick and can take a bit of strain for the bigger busted gals. Its lined and features a back zip for easy and comfortable wear. Because of my bigger hips, I do find the zip bunches a little at the bottom but it’s nothing major. The colour is super vibrant in person and is definitely more versatile than I initially expected. I’d recommend sizing up if you are between sizes though, as there isn’t much stretch in the fabric. But pear girls with smaller busts, be mindful that the fit will be a bit tricky. On a quick side note, a neat little trick for hiding bra straps with this is to wear a halter bra and pop a small hoop on the inside of either bust so you can tuck your strap into this hoop, which pulls it out of sight!

I had a bit more success with the fit of the pants. I own a pair of the High Waisted Trousers already but I know they have a bit of stretch to them from wear the past few years, so I opted to size up to the XL to play it safe. I’m glad I did. While they fit really well everywhere, the waist is loose. I knew this would be the case when I bought them and once my weight settles a bit more (those who follow me on Instagram know I’m currently in the process of dropping the excess weight I gained over the last 18 months) I’ll get some darts put in the waist. Its an easy fix.

One feature I do love about these trousers is the back zip and elastic in the waistband at the back. It makes them a comfortable fit with a seamless from.  These pants are going to be such a fun pair over summer. These aren’t too thick which means I should be able to wear them in summer without much of a fuss. I’m excited to try and style it with other tops that aren’t orange, as the print allows for such versatility!

These gorgeous tiki pants retail for $88USD which equates to around $115.54AUD, depending on the day and the exchange rate. The Harley top (which comes in a variety of colours) retails for $66USD which equates to around $81.40AUD, depending on the day and the exchange rate. Despite the slight fit issues I absolutely adore this outfit and I cannot wait to wear it more and style the other pieces different ways!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this review lovelies! As always, I’m more than happy to answer any questions you may have in the comments or on my other social media for this review!

Til next time darlings!

Spring blooms with the Adelaide Dress by Lindy Bop

I'm an absolute sucker for florals, which is actually kind of funny in its own way. Let me explain as there are certain things the interwebs doesn't know about this pinup. So basically, I don't like dirt...kind of like I don't like dust. The texture on my skin of either really used to upset me growing up (I can adult a bit better now days so its not as bad) and I was born into a family that was very big on gardening. So I never really appreciated gardens or flowers in my youth because I was too busy hiding in my room with a book from my mother so she wouldn't ask me to help her in the garden lol! Thankfully now days she knows not to ask.

Flowers ~ Blue Double From Daisy Jean Floral Designs
Brooch ~ Erstwilder Little Lockhart
Belt ~ Hellbunny Red Retro Belt
Dress ~ Adelaide Dress from Lindy Bop
Shoes ~ From Nude Stilettos
But in my adulthood I've come to be able to appreciate gardens and namely flowers for their beauty. My wardrobe does bust with quite a few floral patterns of varying types and I run a floral hair flower business. So I guess you could say the love got serious. My last purchase for myself in 2015 was this gorgeous Adelaide Dress from Lindy Bop, which I got on sale and since its still on sale is one I thought I'd share! The colour scheme isn't like anything else I own and I've really wanted to try new things with my fashion choices in the last few months so this one seemed a good choice!

The fit for this dress is pretty good. I got the 12. Its a bit firm on the arms atm but fits perfectly everywhere else. The length is also a little bit shorter than what I am used to as well, but for summer this is proving to definitely be a good thing! Its slightly looser than what I normally wear on the waist (without a belt) which does allow for a fair bit of airflow which does help to keep you cool.

And its a total steal at $43.50 with shipping! Also, if you love my amazing yellow shoes, you can read my previous blog on them by clicking here!

Just short and sweet today. I'm busy running around getting next weeks photos all ready for you! I hope you are all as excited as I am for even more reviews!

Til next week!

Sunflowers in Spring ~ the Bianca Dress from Voodoo Vixen

Summer time.

 Its coming.

Here in Australia, we cannot escape it. Summer has only been here for a couple of days and its already sweltering. With a hot hot sun, humidity and a mostly hot wind, I've been on the hunt for versatile dresses I can wear to work or out and about that are comfortable, that breath and that are above all: warm weather friendly. So when another chance to collaborate with Voodoo Vixen rolled around, I knew this dress had to be mine!

The Voodoo Vixen Bianca Dress is incredibly beautiful. I remember when it was release I instantly fell in love with the print. The mix of sunflowers and roses is even more stunning in person. I'm a bit of a flower lover and I've been finding myself REALLY drawn to floral prints recently. So with that in mind, this pretty was soon on its way to me!

So how have I found this dress since having it join my wardrobe? AMAZING! I've worn in a few times now, ontop of on my shoot day and it is SO incredibly comfortable! I've worn it with shape wear and without and the fabric has plenty of stretch and it comfortable to wear with either. My skin was able to breath in it, which for me is important and I didn't get clammy in it on hot days. It features a back zip which is my preference, as I find I get annoyed with side zippers and it did up perfectly. the collar sits nicely on my shoulders and doesn't bunch or become uncomfortable. Its a great place to wear brooches and while its open chest its not too low, which makes it a great dress for wearing in the office.

Something else I love about this dress is the versatility of style. The simple colours and the black background mean you can style it so many different ways. For my shoot I opted for complimentary colours of browns and muted pinks as I felt that with this dress, they were a match made in heaven. This dress does have a shorter skirt length than I'm used to but I've found in the warmer weather this is actually a great thing, as it allows for a bit more air flow around my thighs, reducing thigh rub.

The sizing of this dress is very true to. I bought the medium, which is my regular size in Voodoo Vixen swing styles and it is spot on!

My overall thoughts of this dress is that is a great addition and I can see myself wearing it regularly. If you are a flower lover like me and love a versatile dress, then this is definitely one that I would strongly recommend!

I hope you've enjoyed this review! I'm happy to answer any questions you may all have for me!

REOW! ~ Pin Up Girl Clothing Vamp Two Piece in Tiger Print

Happy Friday!
Its review time again! This Friday I’m sharing my review of the absolutely AMAZING Vamp Swimsuit in Tiger Print from Pin Up Girl Clothing!

I am honestly such a lover of tiki styling and while animal print isn’t always my forte, I fell in love with this swimsuit the moment I laid eyes on it! I had to bide my time though, as my sizes sold out pretty quick but the moment I got the notification from PUG that they were restocked I snapped them right up before I missed out again! The thought  of missing out again, especially with me now swimming more than I ever have was a bit too much! Even though I’m currently a bit bigger than I normally am, I am still loving everything about this amazing swimsuit!

Now I love a good swimsuit and this pretty is my third PUG addition to my collection. Going off the fit of my last PUG two piece, I bought the top in a medium and the bottoms in a large, as I found the fit of the medium bottoms too firm across my backside.  The fit of the top was spot on. The cut is also super amazing for a smaller busted girl like me. I find most two piece tops lack the support to give me the look of a fuller bust and often just highlight my lack of boobage. This cut of bikini top, being the same as the Vamp top/dresses means that my bust is supported for a change which gives me a fuller cleavage look. There are 3 different size slots in the back and the top is fully lined for a comfortable fit!

The bottoms, like the top are amazing! They are also fully lined and I find they sit higher than my previous PUG bikini bottoms, which I find makes for a more comfortable and more figure flattering fit. The sides also feature gathered panels at the front, which I feel gives a nicer finish to the overlook look of this two piece. The waist band and leg bands are comfortable and doesn’t dig into my thighs to waist, which is a big thing for me with swimsuits, making this one a big win!

Having swum in this swimsuit I found it comfortable, durable and easy to swim in. It didn’t become heavy and uncomfortable when wet (which I have experienced with some swimsuits in the past) and I look forward to swimming in it A LOT in the future!
This swimsuit is a tiki lovers dream! For this review I opted to show that love by accessorizing this two piece with a poodle hair do, a tiki hair piece from Miz Smitten Kitten and skull jewellery accents from Debstar Designs!

I strongly recommend this swimsuit to any tiki or animal print loving pinup girls!
The top retails for $64USD and the bottoms are $48USD. Not too bad considering the quality of these garments! You can purchase this swimsuit from Pin Up Girl Clothing.

Thank you for reading and I look forward to bringing you more reviews next week!

Modcloth Monday ~ Summer Cutie

Hello all!

So being the end of summer, though the warmer weather is still lingering at the start of autumn, I wanted to do a post that was dedicated to summer for my Modcloth Monday today! Keeping it short and sweet as I'm currently prepping for the Rock n Roll Markets next week!

I absolutely love the pattern and cut of this dress...I'm such a tiki lover and I thought these simple but beach themed accessories complimented it beautifully!

Much love,
