Modcloth Monday ~ Winter Shoes

Hello all!

So for those who don't have the pleasure of living in the southern hemisphere, its currently winter for us in Australia and its been a chilly one!

Thankfully I don't live in an area that snows, but its already snowing in the mountains and has been since mid May, meaning the 'breeze' that comes from the mountains has been ice cold! This has been my first winter since being a pinup where I've had to step outside the realm of just adding a cardigan to my outfits...because its been just too darn cold for that! So I've had to start investing in things to help keep me warm.

Outside of knitwear (which I want to cover in a seperate blog post) I've been looking at investing in more winter accessories, namely winter shoes to help get me through this years colder months!

I've primarily been looking for boot style shoes or heels that are primarily enclosed, to help keep my tootsies warm this winter! For my Modcloth Monday this week, here are my favorites from their site!

As someone who has lived in sandals for most of summer, winter appropriate shoes are currently very high on the priority list as keeping my feet warm and dry is a big step towards staying cold free!

Much love

Wishlist Wednesday ~ The Coat edition

Hello all!

So yesterday I got my first taste of what this winter has to offer and to be frank, it left me a little brow beaten. It seems, through luck my last two years as a pinup I've gotten away with just wearing cardigans in winter as Aussieland just hasn't been all that cold....this year my luck may have run out and it sent me running to look at investing in a coat!

My favorite brands for coats at present are Hell Bunny and Collectif! And while I'm swooning over some of the coats I'm seeing on Collectif...

Pearl Coat from Collectif UK
I'm questioning their practicality when it comes to my life. I go through a BIG daily commute to get to work and I worry such a long, pretty coat like this would get damaged. Maybe I might splurge a bit later in the year on something of this level of glamour, but for now I think it'll remain a drooling point.

Three coats I am considering though as I know I'd wear them are:

The Trixie coat in both pastel pink & blue.

I say both because I wear SO much of both of these colours now days that I couldn't pick! I feel a lot more comfortable in not having any detail around the hem as public transport can be rough.

The other Hell bunny I'm loving at the moment is the Hell Bunny Shonna Coat in black! This is such a nice cut of jacket and I love the detailing on it!

It also comes in Teal and Red which are both seducing me slowly as well.

I mean, HOW GORGEOUS ARE THEY!

I'm planning on investing in a coat before the end of May, otherwise I feel I may just freeze this winter! Also expect to see a lot more knitwear and stockings from me as the cold weather shift comes through!

That's it for today,

Happy Wednesday!

Winter Staple ~ Knitwear and fluffy sweathers!

So winter is on its way to Aussieland at the moment and this year I intend to be PREPARED for winter! Pretty much my entire wardrobe (with the exception of maybe 6 total pieces) are summer based. Which means since going pinup I've made to with cardigans and basically shivering a lot.

Not this year! This year I discovered knit wear!!

An eBay purchase of a no longer stocked Tatyana Boutique knit pullover has started a winter obsession: knitwear. No more freezing my butt off. This year I'm going to be nice and warm and  pinup perfect!

My two focuses of knitwear outside cardigans this year are going to be pull overs and fluffy tops!

Fluffy Tops!

I currently own 2 fluffy tops (yellow as pictured and a baby blue). I found these gems at Kmart last year for $8 during the change of season (I am PRAYING they bring these back as fluffy jumpers seem to be a thing in mainstream trends atm too for winter) and I honestly love them! They are deceptively warm, super comfy and are incredibly cute. You can team them with just about anything: jeans, shorts, skirts! And I find the higher neckline makes them great for wearing brooches (and wearing to work!!).

Aside from a few budget stores like Kmart, I've found some long sleeve ones at Pin Up Girl Clothing and I recently purchased the navy with blue hearts!

These are a great fun way to stay warm and look amazing!

Pull Overs

I've also discovered knitwear Pullovers. Sadly they don't make this particular one anyone (it was an ebay find!) but it started a bit of a pre-winter love affair and I went on the hunt! I was able to find them in a RANGE of colours for only $13 and being somewhat of a skirt hoarder these will literally save my butt this winter.

And luckily knitwear seems to be available from popular pinups stores as well! Check out these examples all available from Unique Vintage!

So if your a Southern Hemisphere Pinup Gal and you want to look cute but stay warm this winter! Give knitwear a try!
